Sardinian born, Andrea self trained in piano and played keyboards in several bands with a varied range of styles including experimental, psychedelic, folk, hip-hop, rock, metal and punk in his native Sardinia from the age of 17.

After buying his first Atari computer running Cubase, one year later, he started writing electronic ambient music on his own and collaborating with other likeminded musicians alongside playing with bands.

In 1997 he left Sardinia to move to London where, after a few years of inactivity, he discovered the psychedelic party scene through Pendragon at the Brixton Academy. He was inspired again by the chill out rooms at parties such as Chichime, Astral Phoenix, Return To The Source and Fairy Tales to name a few. In 2003 he played his first DJ set at Chichime and he has since DJ'd in most London clubs and squat parties. He also became a regular DJ at the Psy Dream Temple chill out nights in Camden.

He later formed a collaborative project together with Alberto, conservatory trained flutist from Bogota (Colombia), who he met in London while playing at a jam session in a pub with some common friends. Andrea was impressed by Alberto's flute and asked him to jam with him at a DJ set a couple of days later, at the Dream Temple. The alchemy with Andrea's selection and Alberto's flute was an extraordinary sonic experience for both and for the crowd present that night. Going to the studio to start a creative collaboration was a natural step for them.  There, while working on their first ideas together, when saving the first file on the computer, they came out with the name Mononegro, simply the union of Andrea's DJ name at the time "MONO" and Alberto's nickname "Negro".

In 2003 he began to set up his own studio and once again immersed himself into the writing process.  His music is psychedelic ambient and downtempo.? As a DJ he plays anything from Psy Chill, to Ambient, Dub, World and Lounge.

Andrea aka Mononegro joined Free-Spirit Records as a label DJ and Producer in 2007 and now also handles all their downtempo / alternative A&R.
